With a recently updated ranking by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the national football team of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) can rejoice in its recent performances. Under the leadership of their coach Sébastien Desabre, the Leopards were able to gain several places in the rankings, both at global and continental level.
At the global level, the DRC climbed to 64th place, gaining 5 places compared to the previous ranking. This progress is encouraging for the team which seeks to consolidate its position before the draw for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN) scheduled in a few weeks. By placing themselves in the second hat, the Leopards could have a better chance of facing more accessible teams during the group stage.
Continentally, the DRC also rose to 12th place, gaining two places compared to the previous ranking. This position within the African top 15 is encouraging for the team which hopes to continue to climb the rankings and compete with the best teams on the continent.
At the top of the world rankings are renowned teams such as Argentina, France, Brazil, England and Belgium. These teams are considered the best in the world and their dominance on the pitch is undeniable.
On the African level, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia respectively occupy the first three places. These teams have shown great consistency in their performances and are often considered favorites in continental competitions.
This update of the ranking is good news for the DRC which continues its progress on the international football scene. With strong performances and a competitive team, the Leopards showed that they can compete with the best teams on the continent. Let’s hope that this positive dynamic continues during the next competitions and that the DRC continues to shine on the international scene.
