News: The Secretary General of CENCO clarifies his comments on a possible coup d’état in the DRC
In a recent interview given to the press of the National Assembly, Abbé Nshole, Secretary General of the National Episcopal Commission of Congo (CENCO), wished to provide clarification concerning his controversial remarks on a possible coup d’état in the Republic Democratic Congo.
Father Nshole claimed that his statements were distorted and that his main objective was to raise awareness on the importance of trust in the country. He made it clear that he had never encouraged or mentioned the possibility of a coup d’état against President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo. According to him, it is crucial to exercise caution to avoid getting into a difficult situation.
This clarification comes following an audience with the President of the National Assembly, Christophe Mboso Nkodia. Indeed, the president of CENCO, Marcelin Utembi, will soon travel to Rome to represent the DRC at a synod bringing together bishops from around the world. He therefore deemed it necessary to meet Christophe Mboso in order to have an overview of the current situation in the country, because the Pope will certainly be interested in the state of the country during their meeting.
These explanations from Father Nshole therefore aim to dispel any misunderstanding and to reaffirm CENCO’s commitment to lasting peace in the DRC. Trust, according to him, is a key element for the stability of the country and all political actors must work in this direction.
It is important to note that CENCO plays a central role in the process of pacification and reconciliation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His positions are closely followed and his statements often provoke reactions and debates within Congolese society.
In conclusion, it is essential to take into account the true words of Father Nshole and not fall into erroneous interpretations. The clarification provided allows us to better understand its intention and underline the importance of trust in building a peaceful future for the DRC.
