News: Representatives of political parties called to become more involved in electoral citizenship in the DRC
Denis KADIMA KAZADI, President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of the Democratic Republic of Congo, recently held a consultation framework with the representatives of political parties. The objective of this meeting was to encourage their involvement in electoral citizenship in order to ensure broad inclusiveness of the electoral process.
During this meeting, Denis KADIMA KAZADI recalled the importance of the elections scheduled for December 2023 and stressed that the CENI was continuing its preparations in accordance with the electoral calendar. He also mentioned the delay in the publication of the final list of candidates and reassured the representatives of the political parties as to the absence of serious consequences on the electoral calendar.
Didi MANARA LINGA, the second Vice-President of the CENI, underlined the determination of the organization to respect the deadlines. He then addressed the operational stages of the electoral process, including the mapping of polling stations, the accreditations of witnesses, observers and journalists, as well as the voting and counting process.
Participants had the opportunity to listen attentively to the explanations of CENI experts on these different subjects. Interactive discussions also took place to address the concerns of representatives of the political parties present.
This meeting demonstrates the CENI’s commitment to guaranteeing democratic and transparent elections by encouraging the active participation and electoral citizenship of all political actors. It is essential that political party proxies play a key role in the electoral education of their voters to ensure an inclusive and fair electoral process.
The Democratic Republic of Congo is thus preparing for a crucial electoral deadline in December 2023, and collaboration between the CENI and political parties is essential to guarantee the legitimacy and transparency of these elections.
