“Women’s CAN 2024 (Q): The DRC wins against Benin and gets closer to qualification!”

Women’s CAN 2024 (Q): DRC doubles Benin and takes an option for qualification

The DRC began the qualifiers for the Morocco 2024 women’s CAN timidly, but managed to take an option for qualification by beating Benin with a score of 2-1. Despite free access to the Stade des Martyrs, the crowd was small during this decisive match.

From the 18th minute, Falonne Pambani opened the scoring for the DRC, suggesting an easy encounter for Marcelo Kadiamba’s team. However, the technical waste of the Leopards ladies, particularly in midfield, allowed the Benin players to return to the game in the 36th minute thanks to Yolande Gnamni.

In the second half, the Congolese Fauves managed to transform and increased the score in the 55th minute thanks to Naomie Kaba Kaba. Despite this victory, the DRC could have done better by widening the gap, thus leaving a lot of hope to its opponent before the return match scheduled in Cotonou.

This victory, however, gives a good qualification option to the Congolese team, which will still have to demonstrate its determination and know-how during the next match. The DRC players will have to rectify certain technical errors and put in place a more solid strategy to ensure their place in the 2024 women’s CAN and proudly represent their country.

Stay tuned to follow the evolution of this exciting competition and encourage the Congolese players in their quest to qualify for the 2024 women’s CAN.
