“Reform of the state exam in the DRC: trade union organizations call for better management of education”

The Synergy of trade union and social organizations of the DRC recently called on the Ministry of Primary, Secondary and Technical Education (EPST) to reconsider the organization of the state exam. According to the Synergy rapporteur, Jean-Bosco Puna, this request aims to restore the administrative and financial autonomy of the General Inspectorate of Education to put an end to the problems encountered during the last edition of the exam.

The ministry is also asked to respect the recently published school calendar, and to avoid muzzling trade unionists. The corporatized management of the General Inspectorate of Education is also mentioned as a major concern.

The request from the Synergy of trade union organizations highlights the importance of rethinking the organization of the state exam in the DRC. By restoring the autonomy of the General Inspectorate, it would be possible to guarantee better preparation and more efficient management of this crucial exam for students.

Furthermore, by respecting the school calendar, the Ministry of EPST would contribute to ensuring optimal educational continuity and avoiding disruptions in the progress of the school year.

Synergy’s request also highlights the importance of respecting the principles and standards of social dialogue. It is crucial to foster an environment conducive to exchanges between the government and unions, in order to resolve problems and promote the improvement of education in the DRC.

In conclusion, the request from the Synergy of trade union and social organizations of the DRC reveals legitimate concerns regarding the organization of the state examination and the management of the General Inspectorate of Education. It is essential that the Ministry of EPST pays particular attention to these requests in order to guarantee a quality and equitable education system for all Congolese students.
