Peace is an essential state of mind that we must cultivate every day. This was emphasized by Abdourahmane Ganda, the interim head of the MONUSCO office in Beni-Lubero (North Kivu), during the celebration of the International Day of Peace which took place on Thursday September 21. According to him, to achieve lasting peace, it is necessary to adopt peaceful behavior on a daily basis.
In an interview with Radio Okapi the following day, Abdourahmane Ganda explained that there are many mechanisms and commitments that can contribute to making peace a way of life. He stressed the importance of communication, dialogue and mutual understanding to resolve conflicts and promote peaceful cohabitation.
Peace is not only the absence of war, but also the presence of harmony, social justice and respect for human rights. It is constant work that requires the involvement of all actors in society, from governments to ordinary citizens.
Abdourahmane Ganda also underlined the importance of the role of the United Nations in building peace. MONUSCO, in particular, works closely with local authorities and the population to prevent conflicts, protect civilians and promote reconciliation.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country that has experienced numerous armed conflicts, building peace is a major challenge. However, local initiatives, such as promoting mediation, raising awareness of non-violence and rebuilding conflict-torn communities, show that peace is possible.
It is therefore essential to continue to emphasize the importance of peace in our society. Every gesture of tolerance, every act of solidarity and every effort to peacefully resolve disputes contributes to building a more peaceful and harmonious world.
In conclusion, peace is not just a distant ideal, but a reality that must be cultivated every day. By adopting peaceful behavior, promoting dialogue and working together, we can make peace a tangible reality. It is a common goal that we must pursue for a better future.
