“Women peace ambassadors in North Kivu: a courageous commitment to reconcile and demobilize the militia”

Women peace ambassadors in North Kivu recently presented a project to raise awareness and demobilize militiamen to the governor of the region. Bringing together women from different territories in the southern part of North Kivu, this association aims to actively contribute to bringing peace to this war-torn province.

These women, tired of the humanitarian and socio-economic consequences of the war in their region, are committed to supporting the authorities in all efforts undertaken in the search for peace. As an integral part of the projects supported by MONUSCO, this initiative is part of the implementation of the Nairobi 3 recommendations on the peace process.

The “Women Ambassadors of Peace” project aims in particular to contribute to the disarmament process and to provide early warnings in security matters. These women will be actively involved in raising awareness and demobilizing young children forcibly recruited into armed groups, recognizing that they are the children of their own mothers.

This initiative demonstrates the determination and courage of the women of North Kivu to work for peace in their region. They aspire to a better future, free from the violence and armed conflicts that have ravaged their community for too long.

By providing support to the authorities and actively engaging in raising awareness and demobilizing militiamen, these women peace ambassadors demonstrate their essential role in building a peaceful and stable society. Their voice and their action are essential to end the violence and promote reconciliation and sustainable development in North Kivu.

It is important to highlight and promote these initiatives led by women, who play a crucial role in the search for peace and building a better future. Their commitment and determination are an inspiration to all, and we must support them in their efforts to build a more peaceful and equitable world.
