The new Board of Directors of the Régie des Voies Aériens (RVA) officially took office during a handover and resumption ceremony which took place yesterday. This transition follows recent presidential orders appointing new managers within certain public companies. Alphonse Shungu Mahungu remains in post as Director General of RVA, but will now be supported by Mayaya Kawaasa as Deputy Director General. Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba replaces Bienvenu Liyota Ndjoli as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
During this ceremony, Bienvenu Liyota, the outgoing PCA, expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for the trust he placed in him during his three years at the head of the RVA board of directors. He also thanked all RVA staff for their collaboration and highlighted the achievements accomplished under their leadership, including the modernization of airport infrastructure and air navigation equipment in several Congolese cities.
Despite the challenges encountered, Bienvenu Liyota stressed that the RVA maintains its operational capabilities and easily ensures air operations on its territory, as well as the management of international flights flying over the DRC.
The new PCA, Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba, affirmed that the new management team will work in the interest of the RVA to enable it to fully fulfill its mission. He assured the General Director of his support and stressed that only the interests of the company and its staff will be given priority.
This transition marks a new chapter for RVA, with new leaders ready to face the challenges and exploit the company’s potential to ensure its development and future success.
The Régie des Voies Aériens plays an essential role in the management of Congolese airspace and in the proper functioning of the country’s airports. The appointment of a competent and committed management team is therefore crucial to ensure the safety and efficiency of air operations in the DRC.
