“Terrorist attacks continue to sow terror in Ituri: urgent call for international cooperation to restore peace”

The terrible terrorist attacks carried out by the ADF group continue to sow terror in the Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Last Friday, civil society in the region confirmed the death of 4 people during a new attack in three mining squares in the Babila Bakwanga group, in the Mambasa territory.

According to sources, the attackers were reported in the independent quarries of Lyolo and Risi. In addition to these acts of violence, the terrorists did not hesitate to burn down homes belonging to the local population.

The security situation in the region remains worrying. Local authorities, such as the administrator of the Mambasa territory, Jean-Baptiste Matadi, recognize the existence of an enemy hunted by the Congolese and Ugandan armed forces in the southeast of the province. It is important to emphasize that these military operations aim to put an end to the criminal activities of armed groups and to ensure the security of the population.

Faced with these tragic events, it is crucial that the population remains calm and trusts the authorities and the army to ensure their protection. Security forces will continue to work tirelessly to repel terrorist attacks and restore peace to the region.

However, it is essential to emphasize that the persistent violence and insecurity in Ituri underlines the urgency of international cooperation to support stabilization and development efforts in the region. The international community, particularly neighboring countries, should provide financial and logistical support to strengthen the capacities of the Congolese army and fight effectively against the armed groups which continue to sow terror.

In conclusion, the killing perpetrated by ADF terrorists in Ituri highlights the urgency of concerted actions to put an end to the insecurity plaguing the region. International cooperation, combined with national efforts, is essential to restore peace and ensure the security of local populations.
