Tenke Fungurume Mining highlights its commitment to sustainable and equitable development at the Katanga Business Meeting in the DRC

Economic operators from the Democratic Republic of Congo met during the Katanga Business Meeting forum, which was held in Kolwezi from September 11 to 12. Under the theme “Unlocking the economic potential of the DRC for sustainable and equitable growth”, this event brought together key players in the country’s economic sector. Among them, Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM) stood out for its active participation and remarkable presence.

During these two days, many topics were discussed, with a particular emphasis on mines as an accelerator of development in the DRC. Tenke Fungurume Mining, through its director of external relations, Maître Hugo Sinza, underlined its commitment to redistribute the profits of its operating activities in order to support the development of local communities.

On the first day of the forum, TFM’s director of community relations, Professor Edouard Swana, participated in a panel on the mining sector in the service of sustainable and equitable development. He highlighted the way in which TFM promotes local content and implements social responsibility programs such as strengthening the capacities of women’s associations and the construction of a reference hospital.

Numerous high-level panels also took place, with the participation of experts such as Planning Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka, Lualaba Provincial Governor Fifi Masuka Saini and Chamber of Mines President Louis Watum. During their visit to the TFM stand, the Governor of Lualaba, the Minister of Planning and other delegations were able to discover the company’s achievements and key figures, particularly in terms of production, tax and community contribution.

TFM has regularly participated in the Katanga Business Meeting since its creation in 2015 and is often cited as an example for its exemplary performance in different areas. The company stands out for its compliance with ESG requirements, execution of social responsibility and community programs.
