Prime Minister Sama Lukonde recently presented the draft budget for the year 2024 to the National Assembly. This budget, amounting to more than 16 billion US dollars, represents an increase of 24.7% compared to that of the previous year.
Among the strong points of this budget, we note an increase in resources allocated to the defense sector, particularly with regard to the defense reserve. Education and health are also priority sectors, with funds allocated to the universal health program and free basic education.
The government has also planned means to support the diversification of the economy, paying particular attention to agriculture, fishing, livestock and industry. Additionally, special economic zones will be created to promote economic development.
The Prime Minister underlined his team’s commitment to carrying out a development program aimed at improving living conditions in the country’s 145 territories. The rehabilitation of agricultural service roads and the modernization of public administration are also among the government’s priorities.
