The 9th Games of La Francophonie recently concluded in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. During this competition, which took place from July 28 to August 6, 2023, 378 medals were awarded to athletes, rewarding their performances in both sporting events and cultural competitions.
The Democratic Republic of Congo particularly shone during these Francophonie Games, winning a total of 34 medals, including 5 gold, 11 silver and 18 bronze. This performance allows the country to climb to 9th place in the general ranking of the Games.
The Congolese Minister of Sports and Leisure, Kabulo Mwana Kabulo, welcomed these results and praised the success of the organization of the event. He stressed that the Games of La Francophonie met the expectations of the partners and that the country can pride itself on having successfully accomplished its mission.
However, during his closing speech, Kabulo Mwana Kabulo apologized for the logistical problems encountered during the event. He also expressed his gratitude to the Head of State and the Congolese Government for their support in the organization of these Games.
This edition of the Francophonie Games in Kinshasa was an opportunity for French-speaking countries to come together and celebrate excellence in sport and culture. The athletes demonstrated their talents and determination, providing spectators with strong moments and memorable performances.
These Francophonie Games were therefore a real success for the Democratic Republic of Congo, both on a sporting level and on an organizational level. They made it possible to highlight the talent of Congolese athletes and to strengthen the bonds of friendship and fraternity between French-speaking countries.
The next Games of La Francophonie will be held in 2025 and we can already expect an exciting competition, where athletes will continue to push the limits of their performances. In the meantime, we can congratulate once again the Democratic Republic of Congo for its magnificent participation in these 9th Games of La Francophonie.
