In his opening speech to the ordinary session in September 2023, Christophe Mboso, MP from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), stressed the importance of preserving the unity and indivisibility of the country. He called on every Congolese to denounce and fight any attempt at secession.
According to Christophe Mboso, despite political and ideological differences, the unity and indivisibility of the DRC are absolute imperatives for all citizens. He urged everyone to work for the preservation of unity, national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This session opens in a worrying security context, particularly with Rwanda’s continued aggression in the east of the country. The town of Bunagana is still occupied by M23 rebels, who are supported by the Rwandan army. In addition, more than 50 people were massacred recently by elements of the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) during a peaceful march demanding the departure of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo. (MONUSCO).
These events highlight the need for urgent action to address the security situation in the east of the country. They also highlight citizens’ concerns about the effectiveness of MONUSCO.

At the same time, it is necessary to engage in constructive dialogue with neighboring countries, notably Rwanda, in order to find peaceful solutions to territorial disputes and put an end to foreign interference.
