Education in Kwamouth in the DRC: an alarming and desperate situation.

Title: The alarming situation of education in Kwamouth in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Introduction :
More than a week after the start of the school year in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the education situation in several villages in the Kwamouth territory is alarming. While the first week was marked by a total failure in the city of Kwamouth, hitherto spared from violence, the situation inside the territory is just as worrying. Destroyed schools, scattered school documents, a climate of insecurity, this is the sad observation observed by the school heads who tried to resume classes.

Devastated schools and a climate of insecurity:
A school head, who recently returned to the village of Engweme in Kwamouth, testifies to the desolation he saw. Students were absent, classrooms destroyed, school documents scattered. Resumption of school activities seemed impossible under these conditions. In addition, the head of the school faced a dangerous situation, coming across one of his former students who had become a militiaman. Forced to hide for two days, he finally decided to leave, realizing that living in such conditions was unbearable.

A devastated territory and inaccessible schools:
The head of the establishment also denounces the situation in a large part of the Kwamouth territory. On the Kwamouth-Masiambio axis, no schools operate. Establishments are destroyed, making any attempt to organize education for this year impossible. Teachers and school leaders in the town of Bandundu, who face this reality, refuse to take the risk of returning to Kwamouth. They demand from the government the restoration of peace, the reconstruction of homes and schools, as well as security measures guaranteeing their protection.

Conclusion :
The education situation in Kwamouth in the Democratic Republic of Congo is alarming. The devastated schools, the absent students, the climate of insecurity, all elements which prevent the resumption of school activities. Faced with this, teachers and school leaders are calling for concrete measures to restore peace, rebuild infrastructure and ensure their security. It is urgent to put in place rapid actions to guarantee the right to education of the children of Kwamouth and to allow them to flourish in a secure environment conducive to learning.
