The Airways Authority (RVA) in the Democratic Republic of Congo recently experienced a change of direction with the new Board of Directors taking office. The transfer of power took place in the commune of Gombe, following the presidential orders announced on July 8, 2023, which appointed new agents within certain public companies.
Alphonse Shungu Mahungu remains in his position as General Director of RVA, accompanied by Mayaya Kawaasa as Deputy General Director. As for Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba, he replaces Bienvenu Liyota Ndjoli as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
During the handover and resumption ceremony, Bienvenu Liyota, outgoing PCA, expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for the trust placed in him during his 3 years at the head of the RVA board of directors. He also thanked all staff and colleagues for their collaboration in stabilizing the management and recovery of the RVA.
The outgoing PCA highlighted the achievements made, despite the challenges encountered, notably the modernization of airport infrastructure and air navigation equipment across several cities in the country. He also highlighted the maintained operational capabilities of the RVA, thanks to competent personnel.
Bienvenu Liyota concluded by assuring the new management team that the development prospects of RVA are promising, given the potential and assets available to the company.
The new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba, affirmed that the new team will work in the interest of the RVA, to enable it to accomplish its mission. He also assured the General Director of the support of the board of directors and expressed his desire to maintain good relations and cohesion within the management team.
The transfer of power within the RVA marks a new chapter in the development of this company regulating Congolese airspace. The challenges remain numerous, but with a dedicated and competent team, the RVA is ready to meet these challenges and continue its essential missions of airspace management and air navigation safety in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
