News in Kinshasa: a special police unit deployed to ensure the security of red zones
The security situation in Kinshasa concerns the authorities due to the resurgence of the Kulunas phenomenon, armed robberies and kidnappings. In order to respond to this problem, the provincial police commissioner announced the deployment of a special unit responsible for permanently securing the areas deemed red in the city.
This decision follows a request from the provincial executive, aimed at ensuring the security of residents and their property 24 hours a day. The main objective of this unit is to fight crime, with emphasis on the eradication of Kulunas and the prevention of armed robberies and kidnappings.
Under the direction of Deputy Divisional Commissioner Blaise Kilimbambalimba, this special unit benefits from adequate logistics. Means of transportation, including motor vehicles, are made available to enable effective patrols. In addition, new outfits were provided to agents, in order to strengthen their presence and identity among the population.
