“Urgent: Call for help for the construction of a vital bridge in the Bunia region, endangering the lives of residents”

The chosen article focuses on the worrying situation encountered by residents of localities bordering the Mbio River, on the outskirts of the town of Bunia. Indeed, civil society in the Tsere group has launched an alert concerning the risk of drowning faced by these residents.

The Mbio River, which separates Rwampara from Shari, does not have a bridge, making crossing difficult, if not impossible, during the rainy season. Residents must then find makeshift means to cross, thus exposing their lives to the real danger of drowning.

This situation has harmful consequences on the daily life of the inhabitants of these localities. Students find themselves stranded and unable to get to school, pregnant or sick women have difficulty accessing local health services, and trade is also disrupted.

Faced with this problem, the local community mobilized and initiated a project to build a bridge over the Mbio river. However, due to lack of resources, the work has currently been stopped for three months.

The civil society of the Tsere group therefore asks that the government provide support for this project. The local community has already partially financed the construction of the bridge thanks to contributions from residents, but government assistance is essential to carry out this crucial project for the security and development of the region.

The deputy chief of staff of the provincial governor in charge of economy, finance and development recommended that local officials submit an official request for support to allow the provincial government to support this project.

It is therefore crucial that the government responds to this call and provides financial support for the construction of the bridge over the Mbio River. This will improve the safety and living conditions of the inhabitants of Rwampara and Shari, who face real danger when they have to cross this river. The construction of this bridge will also facilitate economic exchanges and access to essential services, thus contributing to the development of the region.
