Title: Harmonizing views between the CENI and the jurisdictions: a step towards transparent elections
Introduction :
The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is actively mobilizing to ensure the smooth running of the electoral process. With this in mind, the deputy rapporteur of the CENI, Paul Muhindo, is currently on mission to Mbuji-Mayi, in the province of Kasaï-Oriental. Its objective is to create a framework for exchanges between the CENI and the courts authorized to handle disputes linked to the elections of provincial deputies and municipal councilors. This initiative aims to harmonize views and ensure transparency in the upcoming elections.
Fruitful exchanges between the CENI and the body of magistrates:
As part of his mission in Mbuji-Mayi, Paul Muhindo organized a workshop on justice which will allow members of the CENI and magistrates to discuss the innovations brought by the CENI, but also the various electoral disputes which took place by the past.
These exchanges are essential to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process. Indeed, by working in concert with magistrates, the CENI ensures a better understanding of electoral procedures and legal issues. This will also make it possible to prevent and quickly resolve possible disputes that could arise during the next elections.
Towards transparent general elections:
Paul Muhindo’s mission to Mbuji-Mayi is part of the preparation for the general elections which will take place on December 20. The CENI has already started receiving applications for the presidential election, but it is also organizing other stages of the electoral process.
By promoting exchanges between the CENI and magistrates, this mission aims to strengthen voter confidence in the electoral process. Transparency and impartiality are essential elements to ensure the legitimacy of electoral results.
Conclusion :
The harmonization of views between the CENI and the courts is a crucial step in preparing for elections in the DRC. By promoting exchanges and mutual understanding, this will ensure transparent and fair elections, thus strengthening democracy in the country. The collaboration between the CENI and the magistrates is a guarantee of confidence for voters, who will thus be able to exercise their right to vote with complete peace of mind. Paul Muhindo’s mission to Mbuji-Mayi marks an important step forward in the preparation of the general elections scheduled for December, and portends democratic and transparent elections for the Congolese people.
