Work to modernize the town of Miabi, located in the eponymous territory approximately 45 km from Mbuji-Mayi in the province of Kasaï-Oriental, began on Sunday September 10. This urban transformation aims to improve the quality of life of residents and modernize the area’s infrastructure.
One of Miabi’s main modernization projects is the installation of solar street lights on several of the city’s arteries to provide public lighting. More than 500 of these street lights have already been installed, providing increased brightness and greater safety for residents.
Besides street lighting, another key part of Miabi’s modernization is the renovation of the town’s main road, Kalonji Ditunga. For the first time in its history, this road is being paved by the SAFRIMEX company. The inhabitants of Miabi expressed their joy and astonishment at this work, which brings a significant improvement to their daily lives.
Henri Mbuyi, one of the inhabitants of the city, testifies to his satisfaction: “Here, we work! Miabi is the first territory. I am happy for what I see here. It’s my first time to see that!” Residents, such as Mélanie Mujinga, are also delighted to be able to walk on an asphalt road without getting tired or getting dirty: “I am happy! Look at how I walk without getting tired, without getting dirty. Before, we always came back with dust on the feet and then at night, it’s light now.”
This modernization of Miabi’s urban roads also has a positive impact on properties bordering the main road. The surrounding plots benefit from greater added value thanks to the improvement of the city’s infrastructure.
The Miabi modernization work is being carried out in collaboration with the province of Kasaï-Oriental, within the framework of an agreement with the Central Coordination Office (BCECO). According to the Director General of BCECO, Jean Mabi, the asphalting of the road began recently.
This transformation of Miabi demonstrates the commitment of local authorities to improving the living conditions of residents and modernizing the city’s infrastructure. The modernization of urban roads and the installation of solar street lights contribute to strengthening the safety, cleanliness and comfort of Miabi residents. This work also illustrates the importance of investment in infrastructure for the development of the country’s urban areas.
