“The Extraordinary Congress of the National Press Union of Congo: Towards the consolidation of media safety and the promotion of press freedom”

The Extraordinary Congress of the National Press Union of Congo (UNPC) arouses the interest and support of the government. During the 112th meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Communication and Media, Patrick Muyaya, stressed the importance of supporting the organization of this event. This initiative is part of the recommendations of the general meetings of communication and media held in 2022, aiming to consolidate media safety through founding reforms.

Preparatory work for the congress has already begun, with the presentation of reform proposals by the UNPC Scientific Committee. These proposals were submitted to the Minister of Communication and Media for examination. This concerns in particular the modification of the statutes of the UNPC, the internal regulations and the procedures manual. The restructuring of the UNPC is a recommendation of the States General of Communication and Media, organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic Félix Tshisekedi.
