“Kinshasa intensifies the fight against vehicles abandoned in the streets with new strict measures”

Official press release: The fight against the abandonment of vehicles on public roads strengthened in Kinshasa

In a press release released recently, the deputy divisional police commissioner in Kinshasa, General Blaise Kilimbambalimba, announced new measures aimed at reducing the phenomenon of vehicles abandoned on public roads in the capital. This initiative aims to improve safety and order in the city and prevent streets from being clogged with idle vehicles.

According to the press release, any owner or holder of a vehicle without a license plate or in a wrecked state, abandoned for 5 days or less on the public highway or its outbuildings, will be ordered or given formal notice to evacuate it. . If the owner or keeper of the vehicle is identified, he will receive an official notification requesting him to proceed with the removal of the vehicle.

In the event of non-compliance with this requirement, a notice will be affixed to the vehicle, preceding the formal notice or summons. If the vehicle is not removed within 48 hours following issuance of the notice, the police or a private owner mandated by the city will remove it, at the expense and risk of the owner or holder.

It is important to emphasize that this measure does not concern vehicles displayed or parked in places authorized for commercial purposes, nor vehicles subject to offenses falling under the Road Traffic Police.

The vehicle return procedure involves payment of all costs related to its removal and impound management. The vehicle can only be returned after presentation of a release from the impound or an authorization issued by the competent authority.

This initiative is part of the desire of the Kinshasa authorities to maintain order and security in the city, by combating street congestion and promoting a more pleasant urban environment for citizens.

In conclusion, this action by the Kinshasa police aims to make owners of vehicles abandoned on public roads responsible and to ensure better traffic ordering in the Congolese capital. It is essential that everyone takes their responsibilities to guarantee a safe and functional urban space for all.
