Awareness session on the quality of export products in North Kivu
The Congolese Control Office (OCC) recently organized an awareness session in Goma, North Kivu, to help local economic operators improve the quality of their products intended for export. This initiative aims to make these companies more competitive on international markets.
It appeared that many economic operators in the region are facing difficulties related to the presentation and labeling of their local products. This situation weakens their competitiveness in the face of competition and complicates trade with neighboring countries.
In order to make local products more competitive on the international stage, it is essential to comply with certain international standards, such as certification, standardization and proper labeling presentation. However, these criteria still constitute a challenge for economic operators in North Kivu, according to the provincial director of the OCC.
Local entrepreneurs welcomed this OCC awareness session and pledged to comply with international market requirements. They recognize the importance of product certification for global recognition. However, they also recognize the challenges they face in selling their products abroad, including the difficulty of meeting international standards.
The vice governor of the province requested assistance from the OCC to facilitate the standardization and certification procedure for young entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses. This would allow them to expand their activities beyond national borders.
This awareness raising on the quality of export products represents an important step for North Kivu companies which aspire to a presence on international markets. By improving the quality of their products and meeting international standards, these entrepreneurs will not only contribute to strengthening their competitiveness, but also to promoting the economic development of the region.
However, much remains to be done for the region’s products to compete with those of other countries on the international market. It is necessary to continue to support local economic operators, strengthen their capacities and accompany them in their process of improving product quality.
In conclusion, raising awareness about the quality of export products in North Kivu is an important step towards increased competitiveness on international markets. However, it is crucial to continue investing in training and technical assistance to enable local entrepreneurs to comply with international standards and position themselves favorably in international trade.
