Augustin Matata Ponyo files his candidacy for the 2023 presidential election

In a press release officially announcing the submission of his candidacy for the 2023 presidential election, Senator Augustin Matata Ponyo, president of the Leadership and Governance for Development (LGD) political party, visited the national headquarters of the National Electoral Commission independent (Ceni) on Saturday September 9.

This announcement comes after the presentation by Matata Ponyo of its company project in Kindu, which is based on three major axes. Estimated at 90 billion US dollars for a period of 5 years, or an annual budget of 18 billion dollars, this project aims to achieve a Gross Domestic Product per capita of 1,000 dollars.

However, alongside his candidacy, Matata Ponyo is also facing legal action. He is accused, alongside South African businessman Christo Grobler and former governor of the Central Bank of Congo Déogratias Mutombo, in the affair of the Bukanga-Lonzo debacle and the Kinshasa international market .

Despite these prosecutions, the former Prime Minister proclaims his innocence and denounces a political trial aimed at removing him from the electoral race.
