The Tumaini festival: an artistic and cultural meeting for the youth of eastern DRC

From August 26 to 27, the 2nd edition of the Tumaini festival was held in Goma, Butembo, Kasindi, Bunia and Beni-ville. This event brought together artists and young people from these different localities, who were able to exchange their experiences and showcase their artistic talents.

Benjamin Asimoni, coordinator of the ASBL Tumaini, spoke about the positive results of this cultural activity which was spread over two weeks. He stressed the importance of exchanges of ideas and contacts between young people from Goma, Butembo, Bunia and other towns in the eastern part of the country.

The Tumaini festival, placed under the theme of “resilience, civic engagement and peace”, aimed to raise awareness and encourage entrepreneurship initiatives that contribute to the supervision of youth. Benjamin Asimoni is convinced that peace must be embodied in a culture of living together.

This festival was therefore an opportunity for young artists from these different localities to show their talent, but also to create links and share their experiences. These moments of discussion and sharing are essential to promote the emergence of new projects and encourage the civic involvement of young people in their community.

The Tumaini festival is a concrete example of the cultural and artistic initiatives that are developing in the eastern region of the DRC. It offers young people the opportunity to express themselves, to enhance their creativity and to contribute to the construction of a society based on dialogue and mutual understanding.

In conclusion, the Tumaini festival is an unmissable event for the youth of eastern DRC. It highlights local artistic talents, while promoting exchanges and encounters between young people. This event contributes to the construction of a more resilient, engaged and peaceful society, where culture plays a key role.
