News: Jean-Claude Bukasa appointed head of the National Cyber Defense Council
In a context of rising cybercrime and the need to strengthen IT security, the President of the Republic Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo created the National Cyber Defense Council (CNC). This new specialized service, attached to the Office of the President, has the mission of coordinating all efforts in cyber defense and cyber intelligence.
The choice of the coordinator of this CNC was not made at random. Indeed, it is Jean-Claude Bukasa, a recognized expert in cybercrime, who was appointed to this position. Former Special Advisor to the Head of State on security, Jean-Claude Bukasa presents the ideal profile to manage this new security structure. His appointment is a strong signal of the importance given to the fight against cybercrime in the country.
Alongside Jean-Claude Bukasa, two principal assistants were also appointed to the CNC. Mr. Liongo Momanza is responsible for cyber intelligence, while Mrs. Kienga Malaika is responsible for cyber defense. With this competent and specialized team, the CNC will be able to implement effective strategies to prevent and counter computer attacks.
The creation of the National Cyber Defense Council demonstrates awareness of the issues related to IT security in an increasingly connected world. New information and communication technologies offer many opportunities, but they are also a breeding ground for criminal activities. The DRC, by setting up this specialized structure, shows its determination to protect its infrastructure and its citizens against cyber attacks.
The appointment of Jean-Claude Bukasa and the creation of the CNC are essential steps in the fight against cybercrime in the Democratic Republic of Congo. By strengthening coordination and actions in cyber defense, the country is equipping itself with the necessary tools to face the challenges of IT security. This appointment is also a strong signal for all players in cybercrime: the DRC is determined to combat them and ensure the protection of its systems and data.
The establishment of the National Cyber Defense Council is a concrete response to current IT security challenges. With specialized experts at its head, this structure will be able to develop effective methods to identify, prevent and combat cyberattacks. The DRC thus demonstrates its desire to remain at the forefront of digital security and protect its vital interests in an increasingly connected world.
