“Justice finally served: those responsible for the tragic attack in Goma appear before the military court”

Following the tragic attack which took place on August 30 in the Katindo district in Goma, new legal progress has been made in this case. The North Kivu Military Court opened a public hearing at the Military Justice Palace at Camp Katindo in Goma, with the aim of trying those responsible for this deadly attack.

Among the accused are six individuals, including high-ranking officers from the Republican Guard unit. Among them, Colonel Kalamba Mikombe Mike and Lieutenant-Colonel Des Bawili Mbolitini Donatien are among the main officials implicated. Soldiers Kabamba Kauila Idriss, Mwati Musembua, Mbaya Mbaya Fabrice and Amita Bangala Daniel are also accused of having participated in these acts of violence. All the accused are currently in custody and are appearing in court to face serious charges, including crime against humanity by murder.

Parallel to these judicial developments, measures have been taken at the level of the military authorities. The Military Governor of North Kivu, Constant Ndima, has been recalled to Kinshasa for “consultation”, in accordance with the communiqué of the Interministerial Commission of September 4. In addition, two senior Congolese National Police officers, Bongo Wifema José and Luna Kimanga Martin, were suspended and recalled, although their exact involvement in the events remains unclear.

Faced with this tragedy, the movement “Together for the Republic” expresses its deep sadness and offers its sincere condolences to the families of the victims. He calls on the Congolese State to assume its responsibilities and to guarantee that justice is done for the victims of this attack. The movement warns against the risk of this massacre being considered a State crime, or even a crime against humanity, and calls for the necessary measures to be taken to prevent such acts in the future.

In addition, “Together for the Republic” underlines the silence of the National Representation and criticizes the attitude of the President of the Republic, whom it accuses of inaction. The movement also denounces a climate of terror prevailing in the run-up to the elections, which it associates with the regime of Félix TSHISEKEDI. He calls on the population to support the families of the victims and to resist fear, in order to make their voices heard and to put an end to this cycle of violence.

In conclusion, the ongoing legal proceedings and the measures taken by the authorities testify to the Congolese State’s desire to shed light on this attack and to punish those responsible. However, it is essential that the population and the international community remain vigilant to ensure that justice is truly served and that such horrific acts do not happen again.. The stability and security of the region are at stake, and it is imperative that all stakeholders work together to ensure a more peaceful future for the Democratic Republic of Congo.
