“Restoration of justice in the DRC: The actions of the NGO FLAG for a more equitable and transparent judicial system”

The NGO Law and Faith Around the Globe (FLAG) is actively involved in the fight for the restoration of justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). As part of its actions, it organized a conference on the restoration of justice in Lubumbashi, from Thursday 24 to Friday 25 August.

This meeting brought together many jurists, such as lawyers, magistrates, legal defenders and judicial officers, with the aim of establishing an uncompromising diagnosis of the current situation of justice in the DRC.

One thing is clear: Congolese justice works at two speeds and is often influenced by partisan considerations. The speakers at the conference unanimously deplored the fact that the population does not find satisfaction in its complaints and that the perpetrators of crimes too often benefit from impunity.

Father Charles Shabani, one of the speakers, underlined that the absence of real consequences for judicial decisions, in particular due to political and economic interference, leads Congolese justice to ruin rather than to elevation. of the nation.

Delphin Mukwene, another speaker, focused on the corruption that plagues the Congolese judicial system. According to him, corruption is a pandemic that weighs on the conscience of many magistrates and lawyers. He insisted on the importance of integrity, honesty and fidelity of justice actors to fight against this scourge.

The conference on the restoration of justice in the DRC organized by the NGO Law and Faith around the globe highlights the urgency of reforming the Congolese judicial system and fighting against the corruption that plagues it. These problems are essential to solve in order to do justice to the Congolese population and to promote the development of the country.

It is encouraging to see initiatives such as those of the NGO FLAG which are actively committed to the restoration of justice in the DRC. Hopefully these actions will help promote a fairer, more transparent and efficient justice system in the country
