Title: Supervision of chartered accountants to promote good governance in the DRC
Introduction :
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) attaches great importance to the promotion of good governance in its various institutions. With this in mind, President Félix Tshisekedi recently ordered the Minister of Finance to take measures to support the National Order of Chartered Accountants (ONEC) in improving its service conditions. The objective is to guarantee a better contribution of the accounting profession to the transparency and reliability of financial data. In this article, we explore the importance of coaching accountants in promoting good governance in the DRC.
The crucial role of accountants in promoting good governance:
Accountants play a crucial role in promoting good governance in the DRC. Their profession is to organize, assess and revise the accounts of companies and organizations. They are responsible for verifying the fairness and compliance of financial data, in accordance with the standards of good governance in force. By certifying the annual accounts, they contribute to the transparency of financial information and to informed decision-making by investors, financial institutions and the State.
Current challenges related to poor management practices:
Unfortunately, the DRC faces persistent problems of poor management practices and anomalies, as pointed out by the General Inspectorate of Finance. These problems are often maintained by the inaction of auditors, who are supposed to audit public companies and certify their accounts. This undermines transparency and accountability, and directly affects good governance in the country.
The involvement of President Félix Tshisekedi to remedy the situation:
Faced with this situation, President Félix Tshisekedi has taken concrete measures to remedy the shortcomings observed in the profession of chartered accountant in the DRC. During a meeting of the Council of Ministers, he ordered the Minister of Finance to actively support ONEC in supervising and improving the conditions of service for its members. This initiative aims to strengthen the contribution of chartered accountants to the promotion of good governance in the DRC.
Conclusion :
The promotion of good governance is essential for the economic and social development of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. With this in mind, the supervision of chartered accountants plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the transparency and reliability of financial data. With the involvement of President Félix Tshisekedi and the order given to the Minister of Finance, it is expected that ONEC will strengthen its actions to promote good governance and contribute to the emergence of a prosperous and transparent DRC
