The economic governance of public enterprises in the Democratic Republic of Congo: a major challenge for President Félix Tshisekedi

In a context where the contribution of public enterprises to the state budget in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains very low, President Félix Tshisekedi is keen to improve the economic governance of these entities. During a meeting of the Council of Ministers, the Head of State recalled the importance of good management and highlighted the persistent shortcomings in this area.

Despite the efforts of the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) and other control bodies, the situation remains worrying. Félix Tshisekedi particularly pointed out the inaction of the auditors, responsible for ensuring the good management of public finances, but who did not fulfill their mission.

The president insisted on the importance of improving the quality of services provided by public companies, as well as respect for social obligations towards workers. He also stressed the need to enhance the exploitation and production potential of assets and aim for profitability in order to increase the contribution of these entities to the state budget.

To remedy this situation, Félix Tshisekedi asked the Minister of Portfolio, under the supervision of the Prime Minister, to intervene quickly. In addition, he called on the Minister of Finance to support the National Order of Chartered Accountants (ONEC) in order to improve the service conditions of members of this profession and their contribution to the promotion of good governance.

The economic governance of public enterprises in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a crucial issue for President Félix Tshisekedi. By emphasizing transparency and good management, he hopes that these public entities can contribute significantly to the economic development of the country and the improvement of the living conditions of the population
