“Sealing operation in Beni: More than 70 people arrested to strengthen security in the city”

News on Beni: a closure operation carried out by the security forces led to the arrest of more than 70 people during the day of Friday, June 15 in certain districts of the city of Beni, North Kivu. This operation aimed to secure the city in the face of a recent wave of insecurity.

According to the Congolese National Police communicator, the targeted neighborhoods are Tamende, Kasanga-Tuha, Butsili and Ngongolio. The security forces arrested 6 women and 66 men, and seized various military effects as well as several objects.

This event comes in a tense context for the city of Beni, which has been experiencing deadly violence for several months perpetrated largely by armed militias. The city also suffers from terrorist attacks on a regular basis. Securing the city is therefore a priority for the Congolese authorities.

In short, the closure operation carried out by the FARDC and the PNC in Beni made it possible to strengthen security in the city by arresting more than 70 people. We hope that these measures will stem the wave of insecurity that has plagued the region for several years.
