How the DRC is strengthening its fight against corruption: measures taken by the government

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is increasingly committed to the fight against corruption. Through the participation of the Ministry of Justice and Keeper of the Seals in the World Bank Group’s International Anti-Corruption Alliance (ICHA) forum, the Minister of State, Rose Mutombo Kiese, expressed the government’s efforts to fight against this threat.

Thus, the government has strengthened the legal framework by revitalizing the Court of Auditors, the General Inspectorate of Finance to develop tools to support public institutions so that they properly manage the funds that are mobilized. In addition, there is the establishment of the National Agency for the Fight against Corruption and Cenaref, which is the unit that works against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. These institutions work in close collaboration with magistrates who work daily on these various offenses related to corruption.

The Inspector General of Finance, head of department, Jules Alingete Key, is for his part, the focal point for the mobilization of public revenue with his financial patrol. This general financial patrol in public finances remains the main key to the eradication of anti-values in public management. Thanks to this, the State according to Jules Alingete has reached a level of mobilization of own public revenue of around 10 billion USD, whereas before 2020, this mobilization was at 3 billion USD.

The fight against corruption in the DRC is therefore everyone’s business, but the government spares no effort for the success of this fight. Indeed, the results of this struggle are increasingly visible, and the involvement of every citizen of the DRC remains important for real change.
