The political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) continues to deteriorate. Indeed, last Saturday, Matata Ponyo Mapon, one of the main opponents of the current regime and presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, was stranded at N’djili International Airport in Kinshasa as he was about to travel to Bunia, in the troubled province of Ituri.
In a tweet, Matata Ponyo Mapon revealed that the travel ban came directly from the Presidency of the Republic. He also denounced the lifting of his immunities by the Senate Bureau, which he considers illegal. These events have raised great concern about the rule of law in the DRC.
However, the Congolese government is also tackling other issues. He is taking steps to make it easier to set up businesses in the country as this would help boost the economy. In addition, the government is facing an upsurge in urban crime in Beni, endangering the safety of citizens.
Moreover, the return of Joseph Kabila to the political scene raises many questions about his impact on the unstable political situation in the country.
Finally, other concerns are also important in the country. The floods in Dima Lumbu have left many families abandoned to their fate, while those displaced by war in Djugu are in the grip of the Codeco militia. A tragic shipwreck also took place, leaving one dead and four missing.
It is therefore evident that the DRC is facing many challenges at the present time. The population expects concrete and effective actions from the government to overcome these difficulties
