Title: Strengthening cooperation between the DRC and Italy: new perspectives for Congolese industry
Introduction :
The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Italy have recently strengthened their cooperation in the field of industry. The Italian Ambassador to the DRC, Alberto Petrangeli, and the Director of the Industry Promotion Fund (FPI), Bertin Mudimu Tshisekedi, met in Kinshasa to discuss possibilities for collaboration. In this article, let’s explore the details of this meeting and the projects envisaged to stimulate the development of Congolese industry.
Strengthening of cooperation:
During their meeting, the Italian ambassador was optimistic about the Congolese government’s support for the FPI and its mission to create new businesses in the DRC. He also mentioned the project to assemble modular transformation units in collaboration with the expertise of Self Globe. This initiative aims to strengthen the processing sector of primary agricultural products and promote energy in the country.
Many projects are also underway in the field of agricultural training and small and medium-sized enterprises. The objective is to promote the economic development of the DRC by strengthening local expertise and supporting young entrepreneurs.
Training of trainers:
As part of the cooperation between the FPI and the Italian company Self Globe, training was organized for students from the provinces of South Kivu, North Kivu and Maniema. This training aims to train trainers for small and medium enterprises in the field of agro-processing.
The first cohort of nine young people received training in Italy on the processing of different agricultural products. These young people will then become trainers in the field of agro-processing and will have the mission of training other entrepreneurs in the Haut-Katanga region.
Perspectives for the Congolese industry:
The FPI plans to create three groups of twenty trainees, making a total of sixty trainer-entrepreneurs eligible for a funding program. This financing will be accessible after the presentation of business plans, as part of the promotion of youth entrepreneurship in the DRC.
According to the director of the FPI, this approach demonstrates the desire to strengthen local expertise in the field of agro-industry and to promote the economic development of the country. Cooperation with Italy opens up new prospects for Congolese industry and could contribute to job creation and economic growth.
Conclusion :
The strengthening of cooperation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Italy in the field of industry offers new prospects for the economic development of the country. The collaboration between the FPI and Self Globe will make it possible to train trainers in the field of agro-processing, thus promoting the emergence of new businesses and the creation of jobs
