Training in nephrology: Strengthening the capacities of health professionals in the DRC

The Congolese Society of Nephrology organizes training on pediatric and adult nephrology in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative aims to build the capacity of doctors, nurses and health engineers in the field of nephrology. Training includes courses in pediatric nephrology, adult nephrology, dialysis and kidney transplantation.

According to the president of the Congolese Society of Nephrology, Ernest Sumaili, this training will improve the health of the Congolese population. He points out that the country currently has 38 nephrologists, including 32 specialized in adults and 6 in pediatrics. By promoting nephrology and subsidizing dialysis treatments, he hopes to attract more young doctors to this discipline.

The training includes lectures and practical workshops on nephrology, dialysis and nursing. It also aims to raise awareness among health professionals about the difficulties of treating kidney disease in the DRC, as well as the importance of prevention.

This initiative contributes to the visibility of the University of Kinshasa, which hosts the training courses. The rector of the university emphasizes the importance of international management and the approach to nephrology in precarious situations.

This series of training on nephrology in the DRC is a positive sign for the improvement of the health of the Congolese and the promotion of this medical discipline. By strengthening the knowledge and skills of health professionals, we can hope for better management of kidney disease and increased awareness of the importance of prevention
