In Kisangani, in the province of Tshopo in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Minister of Higher Education and University, Muhindo Nzangi, recently affirmed to the press his total support for the re-election of Félix Tshisekedi during the next elections. The political party of Muhindo Nzangi is indeed part of the sacred union of the nation, which aims to offer a second mandate to the current Congolese president.
“We are going to wet our shirts so that President Tshisekedi has his second term,” declared Muhindo Nzangi with conviction, adding that the elections would indeed be held on schedule and that there would be no extension. He also explained that his “AB: Act and Build” political grouping is determined to become the largest political grouping after the election.
Muhindo Nzangi also maintained that their campaign for Felix Tshisekedi would guarantee his 100% assured victory in the elections and that his second term would be for the reconstruction and awakening of the giant.
However, some see these remarks as mere self-serving political support rather than a real commitment to the nation. Indeed, Muhindo Nzangi is a former collaborator of Moïse Katumbi and today enjoys advantages within the Sama government.
Despite everything, this statement of support by Muhindo Nzangi underlines the importance of the upcoming elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the key role that the various political actors play in it.
