DRC Mining Week 2023: A major event to explore investment opportunities in the mining sector in the DRC

The eighteenth edition of DRC Mining Week started at the Grand Karavia Hotel in Lubumbashi, the capital of Haut-Katanga. This annual meeting of mining players represents a major logistical challenge with the participation of more than 950 mining and industrial delegates, 250 mining, industrial and technological suppliers, as well as the exhibition of 80 products and equipment.

From June 14 to 16, 2023, participants will take the time to explore the vast investment opportunities offered by the Democratic Republic of Congo in the mining sector. This annual meeting represents a major negotiation platform for all stakeholders in the mining sector seeking business relationships in the DRC.

The business dinner, which will be held on the sidelines of DRC Mining, will be an opportunity for participants to discuss the difficulty of accessing the multiple markets of the Congolese mining industry’s subcontracting. The ARSP, the regulatory authority for subcontracting in the private sector, will insist on popularizing the law on subcontracting, as well as its intervention in various sectors of the national economy and in the mining sector in particular.

The copper sector, for example, saw its production increase from 10,000 tonnes to more than one million in the space of a few years. Investment opportunities in the mining sector are enormous, and attendees of this year’s DRC Mining Week will be able to learn more about these opportunities.

In addition to scheduled activities, including a sold-out conference, a larger exhibition with a new marquee capable of accommodating over 1,200 attendees, free technical workshops and sold-out and sponsored exhibitions, several speakers from Africa and in the world are confirmed for the 2023 edition of this major event.

This meeting will be an opportunity for local and international professionals to meet young entrepreneurs in the mining sector, and to discuss the future of the mining industry in the DRC and its many challenges.

Regarding the challenges in the DRC, they are numerous and affect various areas. Nigeria, meanwhile, is fighting to defend the Kouré reserve and its fragile species such as giraffes. However, despite the country’s problems, various cultural events such as the African Martial Arts Festival are canceled, demonstrating the inconstancy of cultural life in the country.

Other events also take place in the country, such as the concert by Fabrice Mumpfiritsa, the messenger of peace, or the Environmental Week in Butembo, which encourages recycling for a more sustainable future. The issues and challenges in the DRC are many and varied, but local and international actors continue to work for a better future.
