The article you are about to read comes at the right time to keep you up to date with the latest news. We’re going to cover three main topics that are in the news right now. But before that, we would like to come back to a report published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad) which puts Africa in the spotlight.
In this report, published on August 16, 2023, UNCTAD asserts that Africa has enormous potential to develop global technology supply chains. This represents an excellent opportunity for the African continent to position itself on the international scene and contribute to its economic development.
Now let’s get to the hot topics that are headlining the show this week.
The first subject concerns the closing of the round table on the state of siege in North Kivu and Ituri. This round table brought together many experts, political actors and representatives of civil society to discuss the situation in these two provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Security issues, humanitarian challenges and prospects for resolving the crisis were discussed during this meeting.
The second subject concerns the publication of the provisional list of candidates for the national legislative elections in the DRC. The Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni) unveiled this list on Friday August 11. This marks an important step in the country’s electoral process and raises many expectations about the composition of the future parliament.
Finally, the third topic explores the views of men of the Church on the governance record of the crisis in eastern DRC. The latter have a privileged view of the situation and contribute in terms of reflection and action to resolve the crisis and improve the living conditions of the populations.
To discuss these topics, we have invited a team of experts and specialists. We will notably have Kinanga Musatshi, journalist reporter and image editor at the Congolese National Radio and Television (RTNC), Mrs. Hortense Kavuo Maliro, member of civil society in North Kivu and representative of the Association for the Social Integration of Living with Physical Disability (AISHP), as well as Ruben Lukumbuka, journalist at Radio France internationale Kiswahili in Nairobi.
This program promises to be rich in information and debate, so stay with us to not miss any of the news of the week
