In Kinshasa, environmental awareness is in full swing. The “Fanya” Foundation and the members of the “Trakadero” rap stable have joined forces to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution. With hope and determination, these young people are committed to contributing to the sanitation of their environment, while promoting a healthy lifestyle.
The meeting point of this improbable union is Masina Petro-Congo, a district of Kinshasa. Ketsia Passou, initiator of the “Fanya” Foundation, explains that this collaboration was born from the desire to solve the problems of insalubrity which affect their respective districts. From the spread of diseases like malaria to clogged drains and irresponsible litter dumping, these young people decided it was time to spread a message relevant to their communities.
The means of expression chosen to transmit this message are varied. The artists of the “Trakadero” stable have created rap compositions around the theme of the street, entitled “Balabala”. These songs uniquely convey the message of environmental protection. The artist Shishi, leader of the “Base Trokadero”, expresses his satisfaction with this collaboration with the “Fanya” Foundation, whose ultimate objective is to change behavior.
During the awareness march, placards with awareness messages were held up. The young rappers also took the opportunity to present the new members of their group, thus strengthening their artistic leadership and their impact on the population.
This plastic pollution awareness initiative in Kinshasa is an inspiring example of young people’s commitment to preserving the environment and promoting a sustainable lifestyle. Through their creativity and determination, they hope to bring about real behavioral change in their communities.
