Title: “Displaced women in North Kivu engage as humanitarian actors”

Introduction :
At the heart of the humanitarian crisis in North Kivu, a group of displaced women decided to become actors in humanitarian aid. On the initiative of the OCHA sub-office, these women were mobilized to discuss the challenges they face and find solutions together to improve living conditions in the IDP sites. This initiative, carried out on the sidelines of World Humanitarian Day, demonstrates the importance of giving a voice to displaced women and recognizing their crucial role in resolving crises.

Development :
The head of OCHA’s sub-office in North Kivu, Mercy Manyala, stressed the importance of involving displaced women in humanitarian efforts. Indeed, it is they, as well as children, who are often the most affected during crises. Women also have an increased responsibility in caring for their families and can make a valuable contribution in the search for solutions.

During this meeting, organized in collaboration with the NGO Action des Volontaires pour la Solidarité et le Développement, displaced women were able to better understand the concept of humanitarian aid and discuss their daily challenges. This approach has created a real dialogue between humanitarian actors and beneficiaries, thus promoting a better understanding of the specific needs of these women.

The head of the OCHA sub-office expressed her belief that these displaced women will be able to find ways to act and contribute to the improvement of humanitarian conditions. Their involvement as humanitarian actors is an important step towards the empowerment of displaced women and their recognition as agents of change.

Conclusion :
The initiative of the OCHA sub-office in North Kivu to mobilize displaced women as humanitarian actors is an inspiring example of the importance of giving a voice to those directly affected by crises. By actively involving them in humanitarian efforts, we recognize their unique expertise and their potential to bring concrete solutions. This inclusive approach thus contributes to strengthening humanitarian actions and stimulating real change at the local level.

The commitment of displaced women in North Kivu shows that, even in the most difficult situations, everyone can play a role in building a better future
