“Children’s polio vaccination campaign in Maniema: Protecting our future, one child at a time”

Vaccination against poliomyelitis in children under 5, Maniema, August 2033.

The acting Governor of Maniema, Afani Idrissa Mangala, recently officially launched the polio vaccination campaign in the province. This initiative aims to protect children aged 0-59 months from this potentially crippling disease.

In total, more than 321,000 children are targeted by this campaign, which will take place from August 10 to 13, 2033. The Acting Head of Provincial Health Division, Dr Anaclet Kyanga, stressed the importance of vaccination against poliomyelitis , a highly contagious disease. A child with poliomyelitis can transmit the disease to 200 to 300 other children, hence the urgency of protecting the child population.

Vaccination teams will go door to door to administer two drops of OPV vaccine to each child under 5 years old. The health authorities insist on the importance of the participation of parents in this campaign. Indeed, poliomyelitis can be prevented thanks to vaccination and the cooperation of all is necessary to achieve the objectives set.

The campaign partners also called for the mobilization of all communities to ensure the success of this initiative. Poliomyelitis is transmitted through contaminated water or food, as well as through contact with an infected person. It is therefore essential to raise awareness and inform the population about preventive measures and the importance of vaccination.

Poliomyelitis is a disease that can lead to paralysis, so vaccination is essential to protect children from its devastating effects.

Thus, thanks to this vaccination campaign, the province of Maniema is taking a big step forward in the fight against poliomyelitis and the protection of children’s health. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of authorities and health actors to ensure a safer and healthier future for future generations
