The 2023 Pan-African Music Festival: Preparations are underway at various sites in Brazzaville

The Panafrican Music Festival (Fespam) will take place from July 15 to 22, 2023 in Brazzaville and Kintélé, in the suburbs of the capital city. For its 11th edition, this festival attracts pan-African music enthusiasts from all over the continent. To this end, a delegation from the Ministry of Cultural, Tourism, Artistic and Leisure Creation, led by Minister Lydie Pongaut, visited the various sites selected to host the event – Mayanga, Kintélé primary school , the Alphonse Massamba Débat stadium, the CNRTV space in Kombo and the History Museum in Mpila.

The objective of this field visit was to evaluate the sites selected for the festival and to integrate the suggestions of the various services such as the general police station, the security services and the health services to guarantee a successful and popular edition. The distance between the location of the podium and the gallery of the Alphonse Massamba Débat site was a problem, but the general commissioner of the festival, Gervais Hugues Ondaye, proposed to solve this problem by integrating the corridors into the show.

The festival will take place on several sites in Brazzaville and in the suburb of Kintélé, with an additional booster zone that could be created in Poto-Poto and Moungali for foreign communities. The mayors of the boroughs that will host the event have been invited to ensure the cleanliness of the surroundings and to set up a team for the management of waste and hygiene.

Kintélé Primary School, for example, will be one of the highlights of the event, with Kintélé Mayor Stella Mensa Sassou-N’Guesso expressing her satisfaction with the choice.

In sum, there is great anticipation around the 11th edition of the Pan-African Music Festival, a major event in pan-African music, which is actively preparing to guarantee a successful and popular edition in July 2023.
