Réveil Populaire: a new political force is emerging in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The political landscape of the Democratic Republic of Congo has seen the birth of a new political movement called Réveil Populaire (REPOP). This structure, founded by Claude Ibalanky Ekolomba, is made up of several political parties and independent personalities who have united with the aim of gaining power.

The official launch of REPOP took place in Kinshasa in the presence of many activists and supporters. In his speech, the president of REPOP affirmed that this organization aims to defend the ideals of good governance, poverty reduction and sustainable development.

He also stressed the importance of giving a second term to the President of the Republic, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, to allow the implementation of his political program and ensure a smooth execution.

The REPOP was born in the dynamics of change advocated by the Head of State and supported by political structures such as “Common Cause”, “Alliance for a New Congo”, “Republican Popular Union” and “Les Congolese”. This union of several parties is a first in a DRC torn apart by political conflicts and competition between rival political parties.

Claude Ibalanky, former coordinator of the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement monitoring mechanism, is currently the Head of State’s roving ambassador.

REPOP intends to assert itself as a major force on the Congolese political scene and play an important role in the upcoming elections. This political movement carries great hopes for a country that is outgoing but in search of lasting political and social stability.

The birth of REPOP brings a touch of renewal to the Congolese political scene and portends a new era for the socio-economic development of the country.
