The Congolese army recently presented to the press a band of several collaborators of the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF) terrorists who were arrested in Beni. According to Captain Anthony Mwalushayi, spokesman for the operational sector Sukola 1 Grand-Nord, these suspects were used by the ADF terrorists to organize a bomb attack at the 15 October stadium as well as a bomb attack at the La Campagne market. The market bomb attack had injured 18 people and these suspects are believed to have been bomb scavengers, supply workers and couriers.
Captain Mwalushayi also clarified that the army succeeded in arresting these collaborators thanks to intelligence from the United Nations peacekeeping force in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) and the Ugandan army (UPDF). The majority of the collaborators arrested would be scientists, and even a teacher would have been identified among them.
This arrest is a victory in the fight against terrorism in eastern DRC. However, terrorism remains a major problem in this part of the country and the population must be vigilant and work with the security forces to ensure the safety of all.
