Pan-African Music Festival: the sites selected for the 2023 edition in Brazzaville and Kintélé

The Ministry of Cultural, Tourism, Artistic Creation and Leisure, through its minister and head of department, Lydie Pongault, led a delegation to identify the various sites likely to host the next edition of the Pan-African Music Festival ( Fespam) in Brazzaville and Kintélé. Mayanga, the Kintélé primary school, the Alphonse Massamba Débat stadium, the CNRTV space in Kombo, as well as the History Museum in Mpila, were visited during this round to assess their adequacy with the expectations of all the stakeholders of the event.

Fespam, the major meeting place for pan-African music, is a popular festival. For this 11th edition, it is planned to host the different events in different places depending on the number of people. For the Alphonse Massamba Débat stadium, the inhabitants of Bacongo, Makélékélé and Mfilou will be invited, while those of Poto-Poto, Ouenzé and Talangaï will meet at the History Museum in Mpila. On the south side of Brazzaville, everyone will be in Mayanga, in the 9th arrondissement. However, to catch up with foreign communities, the general commissioner of the festival announced the creation of a small auxiliary site probably in the area of Poto-Poto and Moungali.

The cleanliness of the surroundings is an important point for the ministry and according to Lydia Pongault, the mayors of the boroughs that will host the events must ensure the sanitation of the sites. Waste must be managed to ensure optimal hygiene for festival-goers and the environment. The Minister also recalled the importance of the involvement of mayors to guarantee the success of this pan-African musical event.

In short, this site scouting round for Fespam 2023 testifies to the desire of the ministry and all the stakeholders to make this event a major moment in Pan-African culture. We are convinced that it will contribute to strengthening unity and cultural diversity in Africa.
