The international markets for agricultural products from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will experience a period of stability for the week of August 7 to 12, 2023, according to projections by the National Commission for Mercurial Prices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade. However, some price variations are to be noted for certain products.
Arabica coffee, one of the flagship Congolese export products, is expected to experience a slight price increase, from 2.73 USD per kilogram to 2.76 USD. Similarly, cocoa will register a slight price increase, from 1.91 USD to 1.93 USD per kilogram.
Robusta coffee, on the other hand, will see a slight drop in price from $2.65 to $2.61 per kilogram.
For other products, such as rubber, papain, cinchona bark, totaquina powder, quinine salt and rauwolfia, price stability is expected. Rubber will sell at 0.76 USD per kilogram, papain at 16 euros per kilogram, cinchona bark at 1.87 euros per kilogram. As for totaquina powder, it will be traded at 54.60 euros per kilogram, quinine salt at 92.82 euros per kilogram and rauwolfia at 1.55 euros per kilogram.
These trends in international markets reflect supply and demand for Congolese agricultural products, as well as other economic and trade factors. It is essential for export players to closely monitor these developments in order to maximize their profits and anticipate possible changes.
In conclusion, the period from August 7 to 12, 2023 will be marked by price stability for most agricultural products exported by the DRC. The variations observed for arabica coffee, cocoa and robusta coffee underline the importance of taking into account the fluctuations of the international market in the management of agricultural exports
