Hortense Kavuo Maliro, a Congolese woman specializing in the association for the social integration of the physically handicapped (AISHIP) and promoting education of excellence for child victims of the war in North Kivu, officially announced her candidacy for the Presidency of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In a public statement made in Goma, capital of North Kivu, after a caravan organized through the main arteries of the city, Maliro explained his ambition to contribute effectively to the management of the nation, in a context of political crisis, economic and safe. She stressed that through her candidacy, she wanted to encourage all women to enter politics and show that people with disabilities can play a key role in the management of the country.
Maliro, born in 1979 and with a degree in economics, has worked in different ministries, as a consultant for the leadership and participation of women in the management of natural resources. She had already applied for the national legislative elections but was not proclaimed a national deputy by the CENI.
North Kivu, where the school founded by Maliro is located, is a region plagued by growing insecurity for several years, with numerous armed groups and attacks against local populations. Despite this, Maliro remains determined to work for an inclusive and responsible management of the DRC, with his candidacy for the 2023 presidential election.
