Hortense Kavuo Maliro, founder of the association for the social integration of the physically handicapped and promoter of the school We are The World School, announces her candidacy for the highest office in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In a context of security and economic crisis, the 44-year-old young woman says it is time to act to redress the situation in her country. “My country is a geological scandal, there are many reports that mention it, alas, the population remains poor,” she laments.

Determined to change things, Hortense Maliro campaigns for the participation of women and people with disabilities in the management of public affairs. Former adviser to the cabinet of the Ministry of Social Affairs, she applied for the national legislative elections but was not elected.

His candidacy for the supreme office is in line with his commitment to a more inclusive society and to more responsible governance. “I am convinced that as the constitution gives me this opportunity and that in politics we are not enemies, the others will have to face a big adversary. I have no fears about that” , she says.

This candidacy is also a strong symbol for the community of people with disabilities and for the promotion of their rights in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
