The army of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) presented this Saturday, June 10 a band of several collaborators of the terrorists of Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF) to the press, in Beni. This set of suspects had been used by the terrorists to prepare a bomb attack against a municipal stadium in the city and to prepare an attack which had targeted the La Campagne market, injuring 18 people.
Intriguingly, Captain Anthony Mwalushayi, spokesperson for the operational sector Sukola 1 Grand-Nord, indicated that the collaborators of the enemy were arrested thanks to intelligence from the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic Congo (MONUSCO) and the Ugandan army (UPDF).
The ADF terrorists had used these collaborators to prepare explosive devices, supply and many other activities. The majority of suspects are scientists. Among others, there is even a teacher among them.
The arrest and public presentation of these collaborators allows a very positive step forward in the fight against the ADF and security in the DRC.
It is important to emphasize that security is a major and permanent concern in the DRC.
In the news in the DRC, apart from security and the fight against the ADF, there are other events such as the eleventh edition of the Panafrican Music Festival (FESPAM) in Brazzaville, the return of the white rhinos, a successful conservation initiative in Garamba National Park as well as several political initiatives in view of the elections scheduled for December 2023.
In addition, the European Union has started an exploratory mission to observe and assist the December 2023 elections in the DRC. Finally, the confiscation of the equipment of a journalist, Jean-Pierre Bemba Ngombo, visiting Goma to understand the war situation in North Kivu as well as a recent attack by the Codeco militia targeting a site for displaced people in Ituri, which caused the death of 41 people, are major concerns.
The DRC is thus a country with many facets and which experiences both positive and negative situations.
