Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is an important issue for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Prevention, Roger Samuel Kamba, and the representative of the World Bank in the DRC, Albert Zeufack, discussed this subject during a meeting on Thursday 8 June.
The objective is to provide quality care to all Congolese. To achieve this, reducing maternal and child mortality is a priority. Free childbirth programs have already been set up in twelve pilot provinces, thanks to funding from the World Bank through the Health System Development Project (PDSS).
During their meeting, Roger Samuel Kamba and Albert Zeufack discussed future opportunities for collaboration, particularly on the subject of nutrition. UHC will be addressed in a quantified way in the coming days so that the World Bank can support the government with new instruments.
The meeting allowed Roger Samuel Kamba to share his vision aligned with that of the Head of State Félix Antoine Tshisekedi, to guarantee quality Universal Health Coverage to all Congolese citizens. This is part of a global health policy to provide quality care to the entire population, while reducing maternal and infant mortality.
This meeting is a step forward in improving public health in the DRC
