The third national eucharistic congress of the DRC closes in the presence of political figures of the opposition and Katanga notabilities at the TP Mazembe stadium in Lubumbashi.

The third national eucharistic congress of the DRC had a remarkable closing on Sunday, June 11, 2023. Indeed, the mass was celebrated at the TP Mazembe stadium in Lubumbashi in the presence of several opposition personalities and Katanga notables. Moïse Katumbi, national deputies Geneviève Inagosi, Elyzée Munembwe, Mathieu Kasunka and Dismas Magbengu, as well as senators Tshikez Diemu, Laurent Muzangisa and Francine Muyumba, were all present at this ceremony.

The congress has brought together 48 dioceses from the DRC as well as those from other countries since Sunday, June 4. Although scheduled for 2020, it had been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic as well as the visit of Pope Francis to the DRC.

The President of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO), Monsignor Marcel Utembi, took this opportunity to evoke the suffering and misery of the populations affected by the armed conflicts in the East of the country.

Finally, we note the remarkable presence of Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, special envoy of Pope Francis, among the bishops of CENCO and the Lega Apostolic during the concelebration of the closing mass of the congress.
